From Westchester to Manhattan
A Persian Wine Bar in the Heart of Chelsea
For years, the secret lived in Westchester. People drove from the city for it: my mother Iran's Tehran recipes, a wine list worth the trip, a room where the welcome was as much the meal as the food. Word spread the way it does about a place that means it. Now that table is in Chelsea: a Persian and Iranian kitchen with a serious wine bar, a few steps off Sixth Avenue.
My mother's name is Iran, like the country, and she never writes her recipes down. She cooks by instinct, the way you only can after feeding people your whole life. Everything we serve here begins in her kitchen in Tehran: the saffron, the slow-braised lamb, the herbs by the handful, carried north to Westchester, and now south into Manhattan, unchanged in the only way that matters.
So this isn't a new restaurant trying to sound old. It's the same kitchen our Westchester guests have loved for years, brought to the city that kept asking for it. Plates arrive like gifts: silky labneh under a thread of olive oil, small plates bright with pomegranate, lamb braised until the bone is a formality. This is Iranian food the way it's meant to be eaten: seasoning confident, flavors layered, nothing rushed.
The room is made for lingering: a first date leaning close, friends before a show, a solo evening with a glass of wine. And the wine is a treasure in its own right: 235+ labels, weighted toward small-production and family vineyards, from the same cellar program honored with the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 2024 at our White Plains room. Few Persian restaurants in New York are also a real wine bar. This one is. But the real pairing here is between the food and the welcome. That part traveled with us from the start.
This isn't just Chelsea's escape. It's the table, finally, in the city.
