My mother called me her sous-chef and busboy. I was eight years old in her kitchen in Tehran, learning that feeding people is a kind of love you can taste. Shiraz Kitchen is what I built to carry that forward — two rooms, thirty minutes apart, one family.

Shiraz Kitchen & Wine Bar serves Persian and Mediterranean cooking at 80 Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains (914-345-6111) and 111 W 17th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan (212-517-0840). Doors open 11:30 AM daily (11 AM weekends in Chelsea for brunch); dinner runs to 11:30 PM on Fridays and Saturdays.
